This section provides an overview on the Solr server and describes how to configure it. Configuring search in Alfresco Share The following sections describe how to configure search in Alfresco Share. Solr overview Alfresco supports use of the Solr Enterprise search platform for searching within the Alfresco repository. Also, the existing embedded Lucene index remains available. Configuring Solr The way that you configure Alfresco to use Solr depends on how you have installed Alfresco.

The customer has around 7 million nodes. I found the following two parameters that may help to do so but need some confirmation from engineering and input about any other parameters we can tune.
The first setting is the mergeFactor, which controls how many segments Lucene should build before merging them together on disk.
If you are doing sporadic index updates, then a merge factor of 2 is greater, because you will have fewer segments which leads to faster searching. The second setting is the ramBufferSizeMb; the indexing process starts by the creation of an in-memory index in a RAM buffer. When the buffer is full it writes the index as a new segment on disk.
The defuault size of the RAM buffer is also set in the solrconfig. When there are ten MB files they are merged into a MB file etc. One other parameter I have seen in the configuration file is the mergeScheduler. The Merge Scheduler in Lucene controls how merges are performed. The ConcurrentMergeScheduler Lucene 2. The SerialMergeScheduler Lucene 2. In the solrconfig. Could you please confirm which one is being used and if we can use the ConcurrentMergeScheduler?
