What started as a blog about playing 40k with Space Wolves is now more of a journal about tabletop gaming in general. Gameplay, games news, unboxings and paint guides - its all fair, well, game. I even got to Salute a couple of weeks ago, expressly to have a chance of picking up a copy at the FW stand. Sadly I was still too late on the day but FW were happy to let me order a copy for home delivery : Cue another week and a half of waiting - and it has arrived! I loved the first volume and have used or adapted several of the techniques described therein on my models I even got the wife to help build and paint a Baneblade with me, using the techniques FW described.

Personally I was very pleased with this as I have had a bit of trouble using weathering powders in the past and so hopefully this will prove useful. I think it is good that the writers are using whatever paints they feel will get the best results rather than simply pushing the Citadel range.

I missed the release date for it and now I must wait a long while before I can order the new one, but the first one was so much good material that I simple vooume it. None of it is earth shattering stuff, but they are a bit more advanced techniques. I want to start airbrushing in the future and maybe incorporate oils into my work as well.

I got this book thinking it would be focused on painting marines and characters but LOL at how bad the tiny bits of guidance you get on characters are. Some folks will like it, even for the photos. Weathering a tank was pretty good covered in Model Masterclass Vol 1. I refer to the first 2 books a lot, especially book 2 and the Warp Runners Reaver Titan as thats the scheme I have used for my Warhound, Reaver and Knights. I have a couple of the Masterclass books, but find that they are OK for one forggeworld through — then just placed on the bookshelf. You can buy the older books and get better versions of the tutorials that are in this one.
