Chuchran was born in Upland, California but moved to Utah as an infant. At the age of five, she decided she wanted to be in a Hawaiian Tropic beauty pageant; she placed first in the pageant and won the Most Photogenic, Best Hair, and Best Personality categories as well.
After landing several print ads, Chuchran signed with an agent. She landed her first two auditions and filmed two movies for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, one of which still plays at the Salt Lake Visitors Center. At the age of eight she co-starred in Little Secrets, a feature film with Vivica A. Fox, Evan Rachel Wood and Michael Angarano. Shortly thereafter she landed the role of Thing 1 in The Cat in the Hat feature. In 2007 she also starred as one of the children in Saving Sarah Cain as Anna Mae Cottrell.

The role of Thing One established her at the top of the bar as a child actress, and she continued making remarkable appearances in several film and TV titles. She was Lily in the TV series “Girlfriends”, and Amanda in the TV series “Crossing Jordan”, both in 2004, while in 2005 she was cast as Mary Ingalls in the TV mini-series “Little House on the Prairie”.
The following year, Danielle played Young Stephanie in three episodes of the popular soap opera “The Bold and the Beautiful”, then in 2007, she appeared in the award-winning drama film “Saving Sarah Cain” with Abigail Mason, Lisa Pepper and Elliott Gould.
