Sutton then went on to reveal that the movie’s star, Henry Cavill, is really into the idea of this upcoming sequel just being called Superman. I like it too! Here’s what Mikey had to say:
Sutton then went on to reveal that Warner Bros Discovery wants a fresh villain for this movie. Lex Luthor isn’t gone, but he’s not going to be the main villain of this upcoming Superman movie. This all sounds very, very exciting, and I can’t wait to see this upcoming sequel come to fruition. As Dwayne Johnson said in a recent interview, Superman has been kept on the sidelines for far too long. It’s now his time to shine!
What do you make of Superman as the movie’s title?

As far as the movie’s villain is concerned, I have a feeling that they might be looking at bringing Brainiac into the DC Universe, and I think he would be an excellent villain for Henry Cavill’s Superman to go up against. I also think moving away from Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor might be a good decision.
One more thing, Mikey also added that this upcoming movie would be a sequel to 2013’s DC Comics movie. This won’t be a reboot, which I also think is the best decision for DC Films to take. People want to see Cavill’s Superman back, and I think that there’s a lot more story to tell with his version of the character. Also, after it was revealed that Cavill would be back in Black Adam, it seems as though Warners is now fully behind Cavill as Superman.
Interestingly enough, Mikey’s new scoop does tie in pretty nicely with what we were told about Cavill being deep in negotiations with Warner Bros for a return as Superman to the DC Universe. Well, it looks like those negotiations have proven to be fruitful, and Cavill is now back!

This all comes after Dwayne Johnson revealed that a Black Adam Vs Superman movie was being planned. The movie star revealed this during an interview with CinemaBlend. So, in the interview, Johnson said that “the whole point” of bringing the DC Comics character to the big screen in his own standalone movie is so that one day he can make a Black Adam Vs Superman movie. Johnson has been asked time and time again by the fans whether his DC Comics character would ever get to fight Henry Cavill’s Superman in the DC Universe.
Moreover, during the interview with CinemaBlend, Johnson was asked directly if he “intends to make a movie where Black Adam fights .” Here’s what Johnson had to say to that question: “Absolutely. That is the whole point of this, man.” Johnson then continued:
Black Adam is going to be released in US and UK cinemas on October 21st. Are you looking forward to watching the movie?

A Look Into the ‘Sell SnyderVerse to Netflix’ Campaign
The online campaign ‘Release the Snyder Cut’ first kicked off the idea of reviving the SnyderVerse into motion; fans practically beseeched Zack Snyder to release his version of Justice League because they couldn’t stand Joss Whedon’s atrocious take on the film. After that was a success since fans finally got a four-hour cut of Justice League on HBO Max, they tried their luck with the ‘Restore SnyderVerse’ movement. Unfortunately enough, the latter failed to gain any significant momentum.

But Snyder fans aren’t the type to get deterred by such setbacks and their unwavering dedication toward their goal thus paved the way for their latest crusade which calls for WB to sell off the SnyderVerse to Netflix. That way, the 57-year-old filmmaker’s projects could see the light of day, only through a different studio.
Things aren’t that simple though, with what, the hierarchies and organizational structures all clashing with such a notion. Not to mention, WB would never simply hand over any of its prized possessions to another entity, least of all such a major competitor. But fans couldn’t care less about the logistics, all they want is to be able to see the much-anticipated resurrection of SnyderVerse.

Is Man of Steel 2 happening?
A Man of Steel sequel, a follow-up to Zack Snyder’s 2013 DCEU debut, has been the subject of whispers and intense fan speculation for over half a decade. Batman v Superman, Justice League, and even an odd cameo with Superman appearing (the character showed up, though it wasn’t specifically Cavill’s version) in Shazam! all came and went without so much as a nod towards Man of Steel 2.
Any plans appear to have fallen by the wayside. The latest industry report that said that Man of Steel 2 was in «active development» was back in 2016 (via ), a lifetime in the movie business. Since then? Radio silence. There is no Man of Steel 2 in production, nor have any industry trades or legitimate insiders suggested as much.
As with the Snyder Cut, never say never – particularly with Warner Bros. having a new platform in HBO Max to showcase its movies. For now, though, Man of Steel 2 isn’t happening as the studio has other, separate plans both for the character and – potentially – even Henry Cavill.
Will Man of Steel 2 Ever Release?
DC
Sadly, as of now, Man of Steel 2 will never see the light of day. The film was originally on the cards at Warner Bros. but with the incoming DCEU reboot from James Gunn and Peter Safran, any hopes for a Cavill-centric Superman sequel are dead.
After Cavill’s hero made a brief return to the big screen in 2022’s Black Adam, reports of a Man of Steel sequel started to gain some steam.
The project was to be written by Peaky Blinders writer Travis Knight, with no director attached to the project at that time. Hope for the title was shortlived though, as development on it drew to crawl. Warner Bros. was reportedly not «thrilled» with where the movie was headed.
Then, with the hiring of James Gunn and Peter Safran as co-CEOs of DC Studios, plans for Man of Steel 2 were scrapped, in favor of a new Superman film from Gunn himself.
This resulted in Cavill’s time as the hero coming to an end, as the now-former DC actor wrote in a heartfelt Instagram post that DC and Warner Bros. «have a universe to build:»
The actor’s replacement was then announced in June 2023. David Corenswet (who fans will know from Netflix’s Hollywood series) will take on the role, as Gunn and Safran opted to bring in a younger actor to » on an earlier part of Superman’s life» in their reimagined DC Universe (DCU):
Carrying a Legacy
Back when Real Steel was released, things were much different at Walt Disney Studios. Sure, Marvel was already their most profitable franchise, and Star Wars was about to bring them yet another blockbuster success, but films like Real Steel had a more important place in the studio’s release schedule those days.
Fast forward to the present, and we could easily see a movie like this being released directly on Disney’s streaming platform – not because it doesn’t deserve a release in theatres, but because Disney+ has proved to be a rather profitable business venue for the company.
That’s the trickiest hurdle for any potential Real Steel 2: just what kind of production would it be? Would it risk a theatre release, where it would probably be obscured by some other of Disney’s high-profile releases, or would it be a direct-to-streaming affair?
Maybe that identity crisis is the reason why we’ll be seeing a Real Steel show before we get any word on a potential sequel.
Let’s not forget that, at the time of its release, Disney distributed the film, but it was produced by DreamWorks Pictures. The distribution rights ended in 2016, so it’s essentially a corporate miracle that there’s talk of a show being made for Disney+ in the first place.

Serialized Event
In the early days of 2022, we learned that Shawn Levy (who directed the original Real Steel) was working on an early concept for a Real Steel tv series that would debut exclusively on Disney+.
Also tied to the project is producer Robert Zemeckis, who will no doubt give the series his trademark seal of quality. At the time of this writing, there’s still no writer formally attached to the project, which could mean that there will be some years before anything comes to fruition regarding this show.
However, the series has never been touted as the long-awaited series that fans have been expecting. As far as we know, Hugh Jackman might not even be a part of the Disney+ series, and he’s undoubtedly a fundamental part of the franchise.
A proper Real Steel 2 has long been considered a pipe dream by some fans – but Levy seems intent on making it a reality, Hugh Jackman included.
Why We Need a Sequel?
Some fans might argue that the original film concluded its plot in a satisfying enough manner without needing any sequels at all. However, a good story becomes a great story if you can tell it again without boring your audience, and that’s precisely what a sequel does. In many cases, sequels are necessary to provide some closure or resolution for the story that’s already begun – not so much in Real Steel‘s case.
Perhaps to find the best example of what we should expect from a potential Real Steel franchise, we should look back at the most iconic boxing film series of all time.
Just like the first Real Steel film, Rocky didn’t explicitly need a sequel to go down in history. As we know, Rocky would eventually become one of the most prolific sports franchises in the history of cinema – setting the standard for every boxing film since. Even though it became somewhat formulaic in later sequels, Rocky was always successful because of its excellent character development, and that’s something we should hope for from a possible Real Steel 2.
Now, we’re not expecting this franchise to become a carbon copy of Rocky – I doubt anyone would be claiming to see a Real Steel 5, but it could follow in the footsteps of the People’s Champ and focus its attention on more character development for the sequel.
After all, the film is great fun for fans of fighting robots – let’s face it, everyone loves fighting robots; however, the heart of the story lies in the interactions between the characters, which is something we could always see more of in the sequels.
That’s why it’s so important for fans of the first movie that Real Steel 2 continues the story of Max and Charlie Kenton, as it just wouldn’t be the same without the two in the series.
Earlier in the article, we mentioned that Shawn Levy still has high hopes for a Real Steel 2 with Jackman to become a reality, and that’s where things get truly interesting for die-hard fans of the film.

Man of Steel 2
According to Sutton’s second scoop, the interest surrounding The Snyder Cut turned into “a boiling desire” that benefits a Man of Steel sequel.
The hype train “reached its ultimate level,” his sources say. “Fans have become increasingly vocal about seeing it, the public excitement perhaps even exceeding that of the next Wonder Woman movie.”
This vocal public excitement and boiling desire reportedly moved the needle on AT&T’s “holding pattern” – a wait-and-see mentality – regarding Snyder and moving ahead with MOS2 and more.
“I was told that they wouldn’t be surprised if Snyder is given not only Man of Steel 2 but a third as well, completing his cinematic book on the Kryptonian,” reads the scoop. Snyder then has a chance of finishing his planned five-movie arc for the Last Son of Krypton.
Pop Culture Minefield reads it as AT&T listening to the fans and telling a Hollywood in financial freefall “You’re doing it wrong.” And that wakeup call is spreading to CBS – trapped in a paradigm shift with Star Trek – and other entities.
There’s no way of knowing what happens until it does. Fortunately, The Snyder Cut’s debut on HBO Max is less than a year away.

What Was Man of Steel 2 About?
DC
Plot details about the potential Man of Steel 2 are scarce, but there are a few nuggets out there for fans to read into.
After Cavill’s DC hero was seemingly set to play into The Flash (something he never ended up doing), he was reportedly going to go up against one of Superman’s most iconic foes, Brainiac.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the megalomaniacal robotic genius would have been the primary antagonist of Man of Steel 2.
Aside from that, the movie would have likely featured plenty of setup for a potential Crisis on Infinite Earths movie.
Superman was supposedly going to be the primary focus of that film, with the team-up actually at one point being teased as a «Superman :»
This Crisis film was a key piece in the plans of DC’s former leadership regime, serving as somewhat of a farewell for the Zack Snyder-era of the franchise.
But all of that obviously never came to pass.
Will Henry Cavill’s Superman Ever Return?
DC
Over the years, fans have learned to never say never when it comes to a particular comic book actor popping back up at some point down the line (just look what happened with George Clooney in DC’s The Flash).
But, for now, a Henry Cavill DC return feels like a bit of a pipe dream. Even if Warner Bros. wanted the actor back, it remains to be seen if he would agree.
After such an up-and-down tenure in the role, a short-lived return after thinking he was done as the character, and then ultimately getting the boot because of a regime change, it would be understandable if Cavill were sour to the idea of ever being Superman again.
Upon the reveal that James Gunn and Peter Safran were moving on from the actor, Gunn did mention that he had met with Cavill and discussed «exciting possibilities to work together .»
So, the door for Cavill’s return may still be open, but it likely will not be as Superman.
The first Superman movie since 2013’s Man of Steel, Superman: Legacy, comes to theaters on July 11, 2025.
DC Fans Demand Man of Steel 2 With Henry Cavill
Zack Snyder’s work in the DCU, formerly DCEU, has left an imprint the size of Alaska on DC fans and the same is conspicuous from their incessant, rigorous efforts at bringing their beloved SnyderVerse back. That’s not all though, because they’re loyal to a fault to Henry Cavill‘s Superman just as much.
Henry Cavill as Superman
When Cavill returned to DC, albeit briefly, fans were convinced that the Man of Steel sequel they’d longed for all these years would finally happen. But their hopes were snuffed out when the studio’s co-CEO announced his plans for a “younger Superman” which meant relinquishing Cavill’s Clark Kent. Ever since then though, fans have been relentlessly pursuing the prospect of Man of Steel 2 starring the 39-year-old Dawn of Justice actor as Superman, and Twitter is brimming with pleas and demands concerning the same.

The DC Universe Is Getting a New Game Plan
Circling back to Knight’s Man of Steel 2 treatment, as THR alludes to, the Peaky Blinders creator isn’t the only one to be «given notes» on a recent DCU pitch. The outlet’s initial report also revealed that Wonder Woman 3 was effectively «dead» in its current form, and that Patty Jenkins was no longer attached to the direct project. At first, it seemed as though Jenkins’ Wonder Woman 3 story simply didn’t line up with Gunn and Safran’s new road map.
However, outlets like Deadline and TheWrap subsequently reported that it was actually Jenkins who decided to leave. Apparently, Warner Bros. Pictures bosses Michael De Luca and Pamela Abdy had concerns regarding Jenkins’ pitch even before Gunn and Safran got eyes on it. The group then gave Jenkins notes and said she was free to come back with a new pitch. The Wonder Woman director planted her feet on the matter, defending her vision for the third film and opting to walk away rather than write a new treatment.
According to TheWrap, while they agreed with De Luca and Abdy that Jenkins’ treatment «didn’t work,» newly-installed DC Studios bosses Gunn and Safran actually had nothing to do with the decision on whether or not to move forward on Jenkins’ Wonder Woman 3. Even so, while Jenkins took issue with De Luca and Abdy’s notes, she «especially didn’t want to hear» what Gunn and Safran had to say. «She just doesn’t want to allow them to have a seat at the table to have an opinion on something new that she might come up with,» and insider familiar with the situation explained. All that being said, a new Wonder Woman movie with franchise star Gal Gadot is still a possibility.
Is there a new Superman movie in the works?
Confusingly, there’s another new Superman movie in the works, away from Henry Cavill’s interpretation of the character. As per , Ta-Nehisi Coates will be penning the story and J.J. Abrams is set to produce.
No one has been cast, though says it will include a Black actor playing Superman. revealed in 2019 that Michael B. Jordan had held talks over «pitching» Warner Bros. a story for the character, though it’s unclear if the two projects are connected.
What is clear, though, is we’re getting at least one new Superman movie – with a prominent Black voice behind it. Zack Snyder’s Justice League (and a possible Henry Cavill cameo elsewhere) may yet muddy the waters for the Man of Steel’s on-screen future, but at least things are starting to soar once more after having spent the last few years grounded.

«The Iron Giant» is an amazing family film of the 1990’s. Set in the 1950’s «The Iron Giant» tells the story of a boy who meets a 50-foot metallic robot. «The Iron Giant» has stunning visuals, a heartwarming story and has a lot of humour. Unfortunately the film suffers from a slow story and character issues. I highly recommend «The Iron Giant» to people of all ages. I give «The Iron Giant» a 9/10.

Brilliant animated feature, The Iron Giant is an entertaining ride from start to finish, and a real treat for the eyes. I thoroughly enjoyed the film, and it boasts some great animation, effective direction that keeps you entertained with its story, which is pretty simple, and in doing that, we have something quite charming, funny, entertaining and of course memorable. This is a fine piece of animation, a film that really is well done in the way they delivered its ideas, and it is an enthralling, wonderful movie that I recommend to any viewer that enjoys a solid animated feature. The Iron Giant boasts a great cast of varied voice talent, and they brilliantly bring these characters to life. The film isn’t your typical animated features such as the computer animated ventures of Pixar, and this one venture more in the cartoon department, but it does it very well that it can appeal to any age group. The film is tailored to anyone that enjoys a fun, entertaining picture that is beautiful to look at and is engaging from start to finish. This is a great movie, one that should be enjoyed by anyone that loves a solid animated feature. The Iron Giant is terrific for what it does, and with its simple ideas, we have a film that accomplishes much more than what we would get than your usual film that overdoes everything in order to grab the viewer’s attention. Sometimes all you need is a simple idea, great direction, a well crafted story to make a very good film, and with The Iron Giant, we have such a film.
