Впечатления от фильма «первому игроку приготовиться». не для всех

Ты не фанат поп-культуры 80-х

Про этот фильм мало сказать «он переполнен отсылками культуры 80-90-х годов». Он – одна сплошная отсылка. Фильмы, музыка, компьютерные игры, гаджеты, герои, средства передвижения, оружие и т.д и т.п.

При просмотре глаза просто разбегаются от невероятного количества цитирования различных источников.

Каждое погружение в «Оазис» — это волшебное ощущение от стакана газировки в жаркий день. Хочется пить ещё и ещё. Проблема в том, что, если ты родился в 2000-х, или не знаешь по каким-то загадочным причинам большинство культурных феноменов конца прошлого века – кино будет для тебя пресным.

Происходящее на экране не будет вызывать теплых ламповых эмоций из детства и юности.

Ты любишь замысловатые сюжеты

К сожалению, сюжет фильма банален, как сценарий квеста для видеоигры из 90-х. Здесь не будет неожиданных поворотов событий или сильно раскрытого морального посыла.

Все читается с первых минут – поступки, герои, их взаимоотношения. Но это не делает фильм хуже, ты просто не отвлекаешься от основного блюда – визуального пиршества от одного из главных основателей кинофантастики. Фильм невероятно динамичен и наполнен целым грузовиком разнообразного экшена.

Гонка в начале фильма четко показывает, что Спилберг – великий в плане крутого визуала. Такой хореографии компьютерных гонок зритель ещё не видел.

К сожалению, в плане шуток кино уже не столь изобретательно. Юмор есть, но он, скорее, ненавязчивый и предельно детский. Можно даже сказать, примитивный. Минус ли это?

Диалог из фильма:
– Как ты опередил меня?
– Я не тратил время на парикмахерскую.

Зрителя просто на два часа возвращают в его детство, где деревья были большими, со стены грозно смотрел Робокоп, а новые картриджи с играми для приставки вызывали особый трепет.

Дедушка Спилберг в свои 71 год залихватски раскручивает качели аттракциона практически с первой минуты. И заставляет с большим удовольствием нестись на безумной вагонетке по рельсам нашей с вами геймерской и кишношной ностальгии на протяжении всего светопреставления.

P.S. Книга совсем другая. Не лучше и не хуже. Просто другая.

Тебе не нравится компьютерная графика

Зритель увидит на экране сразу два мира. Один суровый тусклый и плохо детализированный – реальный, второй красиво отрисованный, наполненный фантастическими ракурсами, экшеном и героями – виртуальный «Оазис».

Режиссёр сделал буквально все, чтобы возвращаться в тот самый настоящий мир не хотелось.

Сама графика, конечно, чересчур мультяшная, но тем самым она создаёт особое геймерское настроение. Ты будто бы смотришь заставку к любимым видеоиграм. Всем сразу.

Цитата из фильма:
Сегодняшняя реальность – полный отстой.

И если ты не фанат бесконечной лавы из пикселей, которая льётся с экрана, этот фильм точно не для тебя.

A whimsical slice of sci-fi adventure. Reasonable acting and the polished visuals we all expect from Spielberg. I suspect I would have given it less stars if I wasn’t fond of the 80s and 90s childhood experience. For better or worse the film draws extensively on childhood tropes and memories of that era. I think it would be a solid film without that notstalgia, but if that is your flavour of childhood wonder, you’ll really enjoy Ready Player One.

The acting overall was okay. The villain was vanilla and I am not sure the script gives the emotional range needed for the protagonists to shine. What the film does do right though is that it is emmersive and fun. Oasis is believable and the rules of this not so far away future internally work, well enough at least.

The visuals are pretty and can go way over the top without being disruptive to the flow and tempo of the movie. It spoils little to say the movie is basically watching an 80s video game unfold. This combined with a thorough PG tone maybe limits the film’s emotional pay off but I think it just made it more fun. This is movie that did fun well. A worthwhile watch and highly recommended for anyone whose inner child craves a flash back to their favourite 80s and 90s nostalgia.

From director Steven Spielberg comes the fantasy-adventure film Ready Player One. Set in the not too distant future, a group of gamers compete in a virtual reality game set up by its designer to determine who will be his heir and inherit the virtual reality world that he created; but to win they’ll have to decipher clues in the game relating the designer’s life and his love of ’80s pop-culture. The animation is really good, particular in creating a look and feel for the virtual world that seems realistic and is able to incorporate dozens of different properties from Back to the Future, to Freddy Kruger, to King Kong. And the action scenes are incredibly exciting and dynamic; featuring a number of different kinds of chases and fights. Also, the soundtrack is extraordinarily well-done and is packed with classic hits from the ’80s. A visual wonder, Ready Player One is tremendously entertaining and fun.

Can you imagine watching this if you didn’t give a fuck about the ’80s? Like there’s nothing that happens in Ready Player One that isn’t a reference to something at least, but almost all of them are ’80s references. I mean I worship at the altar of 1980s’ references on a daily basis, and even for me this was only so-so, I fear to imagine what Ready Player One might be like for someone who actually demands originality.

Honestly, it was better than I was expecting, I’ll front to that. The promotional campaign for this had the barometer for my excitement on this at a firm zero, and by the time I had finished watching it I was surprised to find I had actually enjoyed multiple things about it, but Ready Player One is an exercise in lack of subtlety, and really tries your limits on suspension of disbelief. Not because of the fantastical endless virtual world inhabited by near every creation since the dawn of pop-culture, but because of the character interactions in their «real world».
