Quotes
“ I was really stubborn. I had to do what I wanted to do, and I was really curious about a lot of things. In my spare time, I usually laid in the park and debated what life was, and I fell into the thought about why on Earth we are here.”
“I had this fear that someday I’ll have to take a break and let go of what I’m holding, and I would have to settle down before that. I think that was the military. After finishing my military service, I feel that I want to challenge more myself now, over and over. I became curious about how far I can go.”
“I write things down that I feel ashamed to tell someone, regrets about my own foolishness, it’s filled with my regrets. When you’re tired and exhausted, you’ll have selfish moments where you only think about yourself. Every time that happens, it’s time to make up your mind to take care of the people next to you a little more.”
“ someone who always makes up their mind to think well. Should I say someone who has a relaxed mind? If you want to have a relaxed mind, you need to expand your perspective, and in order to do that, you need to try harder and have more confidence. There are a lot of things to follow.”
“No matter what people around me said, I needed the courage to not be hurt. That much was the energy I wanted desperately. This is a similar feeling to love. Lovers are in their own universe and if they firmly love each other, then it doesn’t matter what people around them say. I think it took time until I could love acting that much.”
“Of course there are times where this job is hard, there are times when I hate it, but ultimately I’m a person that can’t live without this job. I parted from it for a year and a half and as expected I couldn’t stay away.”

My Favorite Do Hwan Project
Despite it being the work that is being talked about the most, I will have to say that his roles in The King: Eternal Monarch are my favorite because they showcased his many skills in one drama. Playing the polar opposite roles of Captain Jo Young and Jo Eun Sup allowed me to truly appreciate his depth and skill that much more. While playing Captain Jo, he was forced to pretend to be Eun Sup and you could see the slightest change in the character. Conversely, Eun Sup had to pretend to be Captain Jo and you could see the difference. As someone who has to «perform» daily, I understand what staying in character is like and I esteemed him highly because in essence, he was able to show us four versions of himself in one drama. That, ladies, gents, and others, is MAD SKILL!! So on top of being extremely handsome, seemingly a very likable person, he is skilled in his profession beyond average. I have high expectations for him when he returns from his military duties!
Becoming A Do Hwan Fan
In my newfound love of actor, Woo Do Hwan, I began to search all of his works. If he was in it, I wanted to see it. I had begun Dramaland in 2018 sometime and Save Me in the summer of 2019, but didn’t return to them until COVID-19 shut down which began for me Friday, March 13th.
Side Note: I have watched a ridiculous amount of dramas during this quarantine.
At any rate, I also realized that I have watched Shut Up Flower Boy Band twice (I love L/Kim Myung Soo!) but did not recall seeing Do Hwan in it. However, thanks to a fellow Do Hwan lover on Twitter, I was able to see the clip where he was part of the cast. Gotta love kdrama twt!
Aside from his first two appearances and Battle for Incheon, I have seen everything he has done. What I have found is that aside from being SO adorably cute, handsome, gorgeous, etc., he is an amazing actor. He has played clueless, helpful, a henchman, the bad guy, the good guy, a desirable lover, a demon worshipper, a protector, the spite filled one, etc. I could go on about how broad his range is. However, for each character he selects, he doesn’t just play the role, he embodies the character and you can feel it. From his deep eyes to his facial expressions to his smile, each character becomes its own. Even though he played subordinates in Sweet Stranger and Me and Master, they were two totally different guys. In The Divine Move, you could see he was loose as a goose, but he gave the character depth despite the character being called just ‘Loner’.
